Best EV Insurer

Zurich Insurance, Asia Pacific

As electric vehicles become a familiar sight across Asia, Zurich Insurance is taking meaningful steps to advance EV protection through focused expertise and innovation.

As the electric vehicle (EV) revolution accelerates across Asia, Zurich Insurance stands out as the pacesetter in specialised EV insurance. This leadership was recognised with the ‘Best EV Insurer’ award at the Asia Consumer Insurance Awards 2025. An innovative blend of strategic partnerships, data-driven underwriting, and digital solutions make Zurich a compelling insurer in this fast-evolving market.

The company’s robust performance is anchored by strategic partnerships. In Australia, Zurich became Tesla’s preferred insurer and integrated into their app for the InsureMyTesla offering. Zurich Kotak did a similar collaboration in India in July 2025. Earlier in the year, Zurich Hong Kong teamed up with Zeekr Hong Kong, a premium EV manufacturer and subsidiary of Geely. In Malaysia, Zurich joined forces with Gentari Green Mobility to help accelerate EV adoption, strengthen
the local ecosystem, expand charging infrastructure, and launch Z-Driver EV Protect, an insurance add-on covering batteries, chargers and accessories.

At the centre of Zurich’s success is a sophisticated risk management framework. Zurich’s global team provide guidance on EV-specific risks to local markets, ranging from battery safety to charger installation, ensuring smarter underwriting and safer roads.

Zurich’s technological infrastructure also plays a key role. The platform supports modular EV coverage designs in-built with dynamic pricing, with the flexibility to swiftly adjust coverage elements such as battery replacement and charger damage as risk patterns evolve.

Zurich has reimagined the policyholder journey through end-to-end solutions across multiple markets, often embedded within partner ecosystems. A seamless digital journey transforms EV ownership from purchase to protection into a frictionless experience. For example, in Australia, customers can purchase insurance directly through the Tesla app, while Indian customers benefit from Zurich Kotak’s dedicated EV Protect coverage via its digital portal.

Zurich’s specialised support network addresses unique EV owner needs by working with manufacturer-accredited repairers. Other services include emergency roadside recharging and specialised towing solutions for battery depletions. The holistic approach has contributed to significant customer uptake, with the number of EV policies roughly doubling year-on-year. Zurich is now exploring usage-based insurance models that utilise vehicle telematics data.

Zurich has shown that the future of EV insurance is moving toward more personalised service helping customers drive confidently into a brighter, sustainable future.

With EVs, we’re leveraging Zurich’s deep technical
expertise to help customers embrace cleaner mobility
confidently. We look forward to scaling this model across Asia Pacific
