Harpreet Bindra has modernised HSBC Life Singapore’s technology platform and grew the business at scale.
The clearest test of leadership often comes when a business is going through transformation. Harpreet Bindra, CEO of HSBC Life Singapore and this year’s Outstanding Leader in Life Insurance, has overseen expansion across the insurer’s life and health businesses since taking the helm in 2023.
Bindra has been a driving force in HSBC Life Singapore’s shift into an agile insurer, one that is both technology-enabled and future-ready but always focused on customer outcomes.
Bindra steered the completion of one of the industry’s largest technology transformations a year ahead of schedule. The programme brought HSBC Life Singapore onto a single scalable platform, migrating nearly 1 million policies and involving more than 1,000 employees across four regions, while maintaining business continuity for customers and distributors.
The work has produced tangible improvements. Turnaround times for key processes including claims, payments and policy servicing have fallen by between 30% and 50%, while product development timelines have also shortened.
This came alongside strong business performance in 2025, including a more than 14-fold increase in net profit. S&P Global Ratings also reaffirmed its A+ financial strength rating.
Over the past three years, under Bindra’s leadership, HSBC Life Singapore became the fastest-growing health insurer in Singapore through 2025.
Under Bindra’s leadership, HSBC Life Singapore launched its first Health and Wellness Centre with HSBC Bank and Raffles Medical Group in July 2025, bringing health and wealth services together. Partnerships with leading medical groups including Farrer Park Hospital, IHH Healthcare and Raffles Medical and Thomson Medical have further strengthened the health proposition across prevention, treatment, recovery and specialist care. Customers on international health plans can now access an expanded network of accredited specialists across Southeast Asia.
Bindra’s leadership has been reflected in HSBC Life’s recognition as the second insurer in The Straits Times Best Employers 2026. He maintains regular engagements through town halls and events to engage 600 employees and about 800 licensed advisers.
Outside the company, he serves as Treasurer and a Management Committee member of the Life Insurance Association Singapore. He was named Top CEO of the Year 2025 by Influential Brands.
