HSBC Life has matched an ambitious proposition vision with the operational and digital capability to deliver it quickly and at scale.
Sustained market leadership has become a hallmark of HSBC Life, who maintained its number one position in Hong Kong for a fourth consecutive year in 2025.
HSBC Life wrote HK$51.4bn in individual life new business premiums (NBP) – 40% growth year-on-year – a 15.5% share of NBP and 17.6% of annualised new premiums (ANP). In Q1 2026, they received over a quarter of the market’s individual NBPs. Named Life Insurer of the Year, what set HSBC Life apart is not just growth, but its ability to execute customer-led innovation in wealth, health and retirement.
On wealth, HSBC Life hit a winning formula with its HSBC Infinite Wealth Insurance Plan (IWIP), launched in June 2025. The plan offers market-first features such as Contingent Guardianship and Legacy Split/Policy Split options, helping customers put long-term plans into practice.
Retirement needs are addressed through the HSBC Bright Income Insurance Plan (BIIP), launched in September 2025. It combines retirement income with capital preservation and legacy planning, alongside value-added services. It provides customers with a balanced way to plan for later life while staying aligned to wealth objectives.
Everyday wellbeing access also moved forward. HealthPass, available through HSBC’s mobile banking app from HK$33 a month, was shaped by customer insights. In one survey of more than 700 caregivers, 47% had no outpatient cover and paid out of pocket, while 58% wanted video consultations. HealthPass enabled access to video general practitioners (GPs), ePrescription, medication delivery and preferential access across 1,800+ providers – all in an affordable package.
HSBC Life backed proposition strength with customer experience and accessibility. It expanded its Health & Wellness Centre footprint with its third centre at ICC in 2025 offering longevity-focused services, and a fourth centre at IFC in 2026 themed “Rejuvenate”, providing non-invasive wellness services integrated with broader financial planning support.
Operationally, HSBC Life scaled practical AI use. Its ‘Insurance Navigator’ brings together a 360-degree customer profile, next-best-action recommendations and GenAI competitor intelligence to modernise sales processes and uplift the customer experience. GenAI also supports faster complaint handling, drawing on 15,000+ policy documents to draft responses in less than three minutes. On claims, e-Claims reached 97% in 2025, and eligible payments were settled in as little as five minutes.
HSBC Life’s award recognises its achievements and commitment to building propositions that meet customer needs, while setting the standard for how a leading insurer evolves and grows its business.
